National Service Scheme” GDC BANJAR

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service.

On 24th September, 1969, National Service Scheme was launched on the birth centenary year of the Father of the Nation. NSS helps students to perform various duties essential for the welfare of the society and ultimately the nation.

Our NSS unit work in collaboration with the State departments and contribute their participation in the state and central social schemes and initiatives such as Van Mahotsav, Kargil Vijay Diwas, Poshan Saptah, Swatchha Abhiyan, etc. We also conduct seminars on the special issues such as Women Safety and Security, Women Empowerment, Menstruation Hygiene and Sanitation, Personality Development, etc.

Motto

The motto of National Service Scheme is NOT ME BUT YOU. NSS is currently having ONE units in Government college Banjar with an enrolment of 50 volunteer in under the guidance of Assistant Professor Monika programme officer NSS. This unit is engaged in regular as well as special camp activities. A volunteer who completes 240 work hours in two academic sessions and attends one 7 days special camp is awarded a certificate.
