Action-and-Disaster-Management-Cell

GDC Banjar has established the Rapid Action and Disaster Management Cell to promote disaster preparedness, emergency response awareness, and community resilience among students. The Cell actively engages students in disaster management activities alongside their academic coursework and other institutional programmes, encouraging leadership, social responsibility, and readiness to serve during emergencies.

Focus and Purpose

• To create awareness about disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness, and safety measures among students and the local community.
• To develop a trained group of student volunteers capable of assisting during natural disasters and emergency situations.
• To foster coordination with government agencies, NGOs, and local administration for effective disaster response and relief efforts.
• To encourage students to contribute to community welfare through practical disaster management initiatives beyond classroom learning.

Activities

• Mock drills on earthquake, fire safety, and emergency evacuation procedures.
• Awareness campaigns on disaster preparedness, first aid, and risk reduction measures.
• Training programmes and workshops on search and rescue operations, first aid, and emergency response.
• Observation of important days such as International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction and National Disaster Management Awareness Programmes.
• Community outreach activities in collaboration with local administration, NGOs, and disaster management authorities.
• Volunteer participation in relief and rehabilitation efforts during emergencies and natural calamities whenever required.
