About Red Ribbon Club, GDC Banjar


The RRC of the Govt. college Banjar encourages the youth to learn about safe and healthy lifestyles. The RRC promotes access to information on healthy life and voluntary blood donation. It provides opportunity and creates the zeal of volunteerism among the youth to contribute towards the control and prevention of HIV&AIDS. The Red Ribbon Club is a voluntary on-campus intervention program for students. The programmes organized by RRC address the knowledge, attitude and behavior of the youths in the interrelated areas of Voluntary Blood Donation, HIV & AIDS, as demanded by their age, environment, and life style.

Objectives

  • To increase awareness on sexual reproductive health and HIV/AIDS.
  • To impart skills on communication, self-protection, negotiation, and effective group interaction.
  • To prepare youth as peer educators/agents of change by developing their skills on leadership and team building.
  • To encourage blood donation.
  • To serve as a forum for students to participate in the fight against HIV/AIDS

Activities in our College

  • By involving the members of Red Ribbon Club of the college, we conduct AIDS/HIV Awareness programmes, Cultural Events and many other activities for the benefit of our students and also for the general public in the adopted villages by inviting Doctors and AIDS affected people.
  • We organize Blood Donation Camps by involving Government Hospital Blood Bank officials.
  • We organize Naha Newarn Day and AIDS Day every year in collaboration with Government Hospital officials.
