About EBSB Club, GDC Banjar
As per the directions of MHRD GOI each higher education institution receiving grants under RUSA has to constitute EBSB Club with the aim to propagate language and culture of paired state. Objective is to learn about and familiarize students with the culture, language, art forms, cuisine, history, politics, socio-economic conditions and contemporary issues etc. concerning the paired state by organizing various activities on a sustained basis covering the entire academic year. The activities can include reading of translated books from paired states, cultural programmes, cuisine, reading of news from the paired state, listening to/ watching a language Radio/ TV News / other programme from the paired state, holding quiz about the paired state etc. Himachal Pradesh is paired with Kerala state of India.
EBSB Club was constituted in GDC Banjar on December 2019 which has conducted various activities in the last two years. Some of the key activities are mentioned below:
Celebration of Matrabhasha Divas on 20th February 2020
Various activities were organized by the club to celebrate this day. 36 students participated in speech contest, handwriting competition and poem recitation. The function was organized with Literary Society of college. Hindi books were also displayed for students. Eight students participated in speech contest, eight in Kavita Path and 20 in handwriting competition. In speech contest Shashikiran of B.A.VI Semester secured 1st position, Harshdeep Kaur of B.A. II Year 2nd and Bhuvneshwari of B.A.II Year 3rd position. In Kavita Path Snehlata of B.A.VI Semester secured 1st position, Samiriti of B.A. VI Semester 2nd and Meemnsa Duggal of B.Sc.VI Semester 3rd position. In handwriting competition Shivangi Rathore of B.Sc.VI Semester secured 1st position, Kishore Kumar of B.A. II Year and Yogeshwari of B.Sc.VI Semester 3rd position.
Movie screening on 12th March 2020
Movie screening was done on 12th March 2020. 18 students of club saw movie on various cuisines of Kerala. The video also gave information on how rubber is extracted from rubber plant. This is an important aspect of the economy of Kerala based on rubber plantations.
Selfie with mask competition from 15th May – 25th May 2020
Students of EBSB Club of GDC Banjar participated in programme ‘Selfie with mask’ under Himachal Pradesh Mission Digital Coroaware from dated 15-05-2020 to 25-05-2020. Yashwant Joshi, Kishor Kumar, Dya Devi and Yashwani participated in the competition Selfie with mask on 24th March 2020 under Mission Digital Coronaware. On third day of this contest Daya’s selfie got second position and on ninth day Yashwant Joshi’s selfie secured first position in entire state.
Mission Digital Coroaware
Students of EBSB Club of GDC Banjar participated in awareness programmes under Himachal Pradesh Mission Digital Coroaware.
- ‘Ak hi sikke ke do pehlu, nakaratamakta se sakaratmakta ki aur’ from dated 17-04-2020-to 19-04-2020.
- ‘Na hi tum andhae aur na mai, khabar samajho, vicharo, fir aage pahunchao’ from dated 15-04-2020-to 17-04-2020. This programme was on the awareness about COVID-19 and not to spread rumours. Yashwant Joshi got third position in this competition.
- ‘Satark rahe surakshit rahe’ from dated 24-04-2020-to 25-04-2020
- ‘Super heros ko kare Himachali Salam’ from dated 12-04-2020-to 14-04-2020
- ‘Jab ho jaoge sanitize tabhi kar paoge corona se fight’ from dated 01-05-2020-to 03-05-2020. This programme was on the awareness about sanitization to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In this programme Yashwant Joshi, Pravina, Raksha and Deepa participated.
- ‘Jab orange, red zone bhi honge green tabhi aayenge din haseen’ from dated 05-05-2020-to 07-05-2020. This programme was on the awareness about COVID-19. In this programme Yashwant, Kishor and Deepa participated.
- ‘Entertain se coroaware’ from dated 08-05-2020-to 10-05-2020. This programme was on the awareness about COVID-19. In this programme Yashwant Joshi, Daya, Yashwani, Dinesh and Deepa participated.
Awareness Programmes
- Students of EBSB Club of GDC Banjar conducted an awareness programme ‘Usefulness of waste products’. In this programme Pravina, Yashwani and Daya participated from dated 26-04-2020-to 28-04-2020.
- Various Awareness programmes were run by the students of EBSB Club in which the club members under the leadership of Yashwant Joshi prepared and distributed masks to villagers. They also made the villagers aware about the importance of using masks especially during corona pandemic. Various villages were covered in different phases.
- 15 Students of EBSB Club prepared posters from dated 20-05-2020-to 24-05-2020 on the importance of sanitization and other aspects. They also made the villagers aware about the importance of sanitization for preventing the disease COVID-19 from spreading.
- Yashwant Joshi participated in Yog Tourism Photo Contest celebration of Yog Mahotsava by Uttar Pardesh on dated 12-07-2020.
World Environment Day
To celebrate world Environment Day on 05-06-2020 students participated in plantation derive under the leadership of Yashwant Joshi.
Online Quiz Contest on Malayalam Language
Keeping in view the guidelines of MHRD GOI and the objective of EBSB Club i.e., to propagate the culture, language, art forms etc. of the paired state by organizing appropriate activities, students were encouraged to learn the language of paired state. For widespread publicity and teaching language of paired state an online Quiz was organised by the Coordinator RUSA GDC Banjar Dr. Renuka Thapliyal for all the students of college from 22nd to 24th July 2020. It received an overwhelming response. 134 students and some teachers also participated in quiz where maximum students scored average 87 percent marks. Students were also awarded e-certificates for their participation.
Students participated in National level quiz programme on Kerala organised by Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit Kalady Kerala from 12-08-2020-to 14-08-2020.
Independence Day Celebrations
Club members celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm through virtual meet. Yashwant Joshi and prepared speech on this day. Patriotic poems were presented by Pravina, Raksha and.
One day National Webinar was attended by Yashwant, Chandni and Santosh which was organised by Govt. Sanskrit College Tripunithura Kerala.
Virtual Onam celebration 2020 was attended by Yashwant and which was conducted by Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit Kalady, Kerala.
Teachers Day Celebrations
Club members celebrated Teachers Day with great enthusiasm through virtual meet. Yashwant Joshi and prepared speech on this day. Students prepared posters and videos for honouring all the teachers of college.
Yashwant Joshi, Chaman Joshi, Dushyant, Shyama, Bimla, Dinesh, Daya, Kishor, Ujjwal successfully participated in online quiz competition on Himachal Pradesh and scored above 70% marks. This was organised by Govt. College Tripunithura, Kerala from 17th to 18th September, 2020.
Yashwant, Kishor , Chaman, and Ujjwal attended online webinar on the theme “Hindi- Kal-Aaj- aur- Kal” conducted by Shree Shankracharya Sanskrit Vishava Vidhyalaya Kaldi Kerala on 19th September 2020.
Poster making competition was conducted by the club Coordinator Dr. Renuka Thapliyal on the culture of Kerala and Kullu on 20th September 2020. 14 students participated in this competition and posters prepared by Yashwant, Deepa, Chaman, Shyama, Gayatri and Ujjwal got high appreciation.
EBSB Day Celebration
On 25th September 2020 EBSB Day was celebrated and various songs were presented by the students on Kulluvi and Malayalam language for honouring the language and culture of paired state Kerala. 24 students participated in this function.
Online quiz competition on Mahatma Gandhi
Yashwant Joshi, Bimla Kumari, Dinesh Kumar, Daya, Dushyant and Kishor successfully participated in online quiz competition on Mahatma Gandhi. This was organised by EBSB Club Govt. College Tripunithura, Ernakulum Kerala from 02-10-2020 to 10-10-2020.
